In the early 1990’s, Jack Lewis’s wife Patti developed Alzheimer’s Disease. He looked at
42 places and couldn’t find one that had the loving care he desired for Patti. So he decided to do it himself and created the Patti Lewis Care Home.

Jack realized early on that providing the basics of care-giving, giving compassionate and respectful care, and dealing with the uncharacteristic behaviors was only part of the caregiver experience. Just as important was being aware that being a caregiver to a person with dementia is, “privileged and rewarding.”

This is the concept of Personhood—understanding that a person with dementia can still
give back and make a contribution—and that the caregiver not only gives, but receives.

Following Jack’s tradition, we only hire specially selected caregivers who truly love caring
for people. Then we train them how to give professional care with compassion.

Vibrant Life Communities began managing the Patti Lewis Care Home in 2009 and we’ve grown into a professional senior living community, but we have retained the spirit of Jack
and Patti Lewis.

So come visit us at the Patti Lewis Care Home... so you don’t have to make 42 trips looking for the right place for your mom or dad.
